A monthly meeting for the meetings at Haverford, Merion and Radnor was established in 1684 by Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting. The meeting was originally known as "Haverford". It became known as "Radnor" after 10mo 1796 when the monthly meeting was fixed at Radnor meeting house. Merion Preparative Meeting was established in 1701. In 1827, at the time of the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the preparative meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. Merion Preparative Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1827. Merion Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was established as Merion Monthly Meeting in 1951 at the dissolution of Radnor Monthly Meeting.
